This program meets Common Core kindergarten standards as it introduces young children to the basic concepts of print. It teaches new readers directionality, the way to read words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page through any given book. It further fosters phonological awareness, understanding that the spoken words are represented in written language by specific sequences of letters. Spatial understanding, the concept that words are separated by spaces in print, as well as alphabet recognition of both upper and lower case letters, are introduced and reinforced. Comical animation, brightly-colored graphics and an enthusiastic on-screen host make learning fun.
